On Your Own

 

Brea Canyon High School seniors have been engaged with a collage of college and career exposure through their BCHS On Your Own (OYO) senior project course thanks to the collaborative efforts of our BOUSD Career Technical Education Counselor on Special Assignment (CTE-COSA), Megan Jansen, and Maria Segovia, Chair of the Vocational Services Committee for the Rotary Club of Brea.  This tag-team of district and community support has paved the way for a strong career emphasis in 2018-19 with field trip opportunities and guest speaker testimonials. Megan Jansen has been able to secure two field trips for any interested Canyon Coyotes to MR Molding, here in our Brea community, and an Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) facility in Los Angeles. Additionally, Maria Segovia has organized the Rotary Career Speaker Program that has a variety of rotarians from a spectrum of career lenses to speak to our students about student post-secondary goals and sharing experiences in their specific fields of expertise.  We look forward to our career exposure expansions on campus and creating opportunities for all BCHS Coyotes as the year continues!
