About Brea Canyon High School
Brea Canyon High School, a WASC accredited continuation high school for grades ten through twelve, is the only continuation high school in the Brea Olinda Unified School District. Established in 1978, and moved to its present location in 1989, it is located at the north edge of Orange County near the boundary lines of both Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties.
The educational programs at Brea Canyon are designed to meet the customized needs of the students who learn best in a flexible educational environment. Brea Canyon High School provides maximum access to the required academic courses that exceed the state’s mandated minimum daily requirements. Strong emphasis is placed on the occupational/career orientation and maintaining work-study schedules in preparing students to enter the workforce or to continue their education at a community college and then onto a four year institution.
The school criteria includes: attendance, credits earned, individual progress, adjustments in social skills and attitude, and responsible behavior.
Brea Canyon High School operated under a block scheduling model where students attend three (3) of their six (6) period schedule on alternating days; A-DAYS (ODD DAYS) being periods 1, 3, & 5; B-DAYS (EVEN DAYS) being periods 2, 4, & 6.
