ERWC Lit IV / On Your Own

Hello seniors!  You've come a long way as far as education is concerned . . . this year you will be completing your last year of literature/composition at the high school level, as well as embarking on a voyage of self discovery and career preparation known as "On Your Own."  I will be your host for both of these adventures and look forward to getting to know each of you better in the coming months.
This is my 23rd year of teaching--22 years at BCHS.  I guess you could say I kind of like it here and consider it my home away from home.  Helping young people to read with better comprehension, and write with greater clarity, has been tremendous fun!
More information about me . . . I was born in Japan, attended elementary school in Germany, and have spent all but six of my remaining years in California.  Being married to my best friend and fellow adventurer has been a great blessing in my life, and we have been joined by four children (two boys, two girls), and they, in turn, have added five perfect grandchildren to the family, with more to come.
I spend most summers on the road; I have loved visiting Canada, the U.S., Europe, Asia, Central and South America, and look forward to touring Africa some time in the future.  One of my favorite destinations is Alaska, which I have visited five times in the last eight years.  I have piloted a dogsled, flown in a float plane and helicopter, watched whales bubble feed from 10 feet away, and camped in a site on a glacier-fed lake.  Another favorite vacation was spent living in a tree house, deep in the Amazon.
That gives you a brief synopsis of my history and I am eager to know each of your stories.  Again, welcome to our den, fellow coyotes.
